A local trail group is hoping to complete a five-year-old proposal to build a trail from downtown Winchester to Lykins Park this spring — just before a crucial grant deadline expires.
The Bluegrass Rails to Trails Foundation plans to construct the mile-long trail along Mount Sterling Road, starting at Regan Drive near Central Elementary School. Once complete, pedestrians will have a clear, safe path from Main Street to the park, according to the group.
“It’s going to provide access to Lykins Park in some other form than driving out there,” said Jon Walker, president of Rails to Trails. “We’re pretty excited.” ... go to the Winchester Sun website for the "rest of the story." http://www.winchestersun.com/public_html/?module=displaystory&story_id=18705&format=html
